Doom Forever REDUX (updated)

Question: "So what the hell is Doom Forever?"
Answer: "Enhancement mod for 3DGE. Sort of like brutal DOOM but more retro, less exaggerated, less bullshit and with balance and gameplay that sticks closer to vanilla DOOM."

Question: "So what's difference between this and the original DF?"
Answer: "I'll tell ya..."

Improved and extended use of 3DGE's dynamic lighting (further tweaking may be needed)
Proper alternate attacks for all but one weapon (check out chainsaw & shotgun)
Less but better and more polished gib effects
Headshots (temporarily disabled!)
Lots of previous bulls#$t excluded!
More vanilla-balanced player and enemy attacks
More unique monster quirks and alternate ways for 'em to kick your ass
Updated heads-up-display (HUD)

Interesting, I wonder if it's the actual face code in the source...I know it was slow to update but aside from that, I never noticed - any reason why it wasn't working correctly?

I know that in one version or another, it wouldn't turn to the right when looking around and yes it is slow to react. Also, I do believe the "ouch" face never was fixed in EDGE.

I will look into that...I'm pretty knowledgeable in the face code routines. If its not fixed I will have it fixed in the last release of 1.36. I'm also going to fix a few other things so I can round everyone that still uses 1.35 up to 1.36. I can't support 1.35 and it sort of goes against the grain if people are still using it :S

Sounds fantastic as I was just starting to get involved with brutal doom in a big way. I can't wait to get hold of this.

Ceejay, do you have any of your older wads, namely that duke wad? I was thinking about putting together another "edge pack" for some of the weapons mods/enhancements for edge.

* Improved fire death along with a new smoke effect
* New death frames for the revenant
* A few sprite replacements
* Quite a few new and replaced sounds
* Berserk pack now gives health instantly upon pickup
* Dynamic lighting was tweaked around a little, mostly for enemy projectiles
* A new death for the Hell Knight
* New plasma gun sprites

I really like what you've done in this update, Ceejay. The HUD guns are looking great, and all of the subtle touches like the extra animations really add a lot to the mod. Doom4ever keeps getting better and better :D .

Yeah, I'm a big fan of this mod. OP says not to compare it to Brutal, but I prefer this; pistol is amazing, I'm not much an iron-sights kinda guy, shotgun feels right, gore reminds me of the blood from RAGE upon a shot confirm (IMO a good thing, big part of why RAGE's gunplay is so satisfying); lack of reloading for most weapons keeps the quick pace of Doom instead of forcing a temporary retreat.

Just popped in to say, good work. :D
