Some suggestions

Postby Karnizero » Sun 08 Mar 2009 11:14 pm

Could be possible for new versions to have...

*1.- use of GLVIS, like Vavoom does, making better quality ilumination and nice "shadows" casts.

*2.- Slade Config file

*3.- Mirrors on floors & ceilings

*4.- Custom Coloured sectors.

5.- Slopes <- Forget it.

*6.- Sprites custom Offsets on map editing (like on Vavoom/GzDoom/zDoom/etc...). This is, allowing to rise or lower any sprite without having to edit DDFs.

*****7.- A free beer.

Anyone of those will be able to be implemented?

I would really appreciate the " * " features. I think with just only those, EDGE will "resurrect" from the ashes. :-)

[EDIT]

I forgot it: SkyBox (if not yet supported).

With GLVIS support, i refert to instead of

The 1st is from Vavoom actual static lights with GLVIS. The second is Edge. Won't you love EDGE to have it? :-P

GLVIS is only for visibility (what sectors need to be drawn from any given spot). Vavoom's illumination and shadows use other lumps or methods.

Mirrors on floors/ceilings is too hard.

The easiest way to colourise a sector is to create a new sector type in SECTORS.DDF (the DDFSECT lump). EDGE has some for water/slime sectors, but the types 4467 and 4469 (green and red) are general purpose.

EDGE has limited slopes, use linetype 567 (floor) or 568 (ceiling). See the slope demo that comes with EDGE 1.31

EDGE 1.31 has a mechanism for putting things on extrafloors using just the map data (no need for RTS). However it won't be useful until (or if) the map editors add support for it.

I want free beer too, but somebody has to pay for it :P
