Slopes are obviously on everyone's wish list (including mine), but the other feature i'd like more then anything is autosave lines. Basically when you walk over them, the game saves (probably under some generic name, like the level name, date and time). It might not sound like much, but it's really a feature that is so very important to the kind of gameplay I like to create.

Why not just tell your intended audience to save frequently? That would seem like it would involve less work than implementing auto save lines.

Custom HUDs are being worked on. It's been pretty easy actually, less than a day to get the basic stuff working, so this could open the doors for more lua goodness (like title animations and intermission screens done in lua).

So that's the good news.

Here is the bad news: I plan to get rid of STYLES.DDF. It's main use right now is for RTS menus, so I will add extra RTS commands to set the background and font to use.

I am tested out some code for "Fake Slopes". They are fake because the engine still thinks there are stairs underneath (no proper physics). Can't guarantee this will make it into the full release, depends on how much it has disturbed all the other code, and a lot more testing is needed. Nevertheless I think they are pretty nice. is that a model used in that fake slope? or is it done in the level? either way it looks really good! even if it acts like a set of stairs, it can still be very usefull. keep up the good work

Great work, i'd love to see this in the release. Seems like it'll do 90% of what people want.

Just another though. Will the "slope" keep it shape if let say that the floor would rise and sink for example(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3ejmj2K ... re=related)(watch 3:30 through) That it if you continue it of corse.

FUCK YEAH! Shit! This means that Edge=THE ULTIMATE PORT. Even pwns GZDoom. Slopes mean that Edge will have ALL features of a modern port. Thank you if slopes make it to the final release! (gotta fix the caps key =D)

SLOPEZ!!!!!!!11

(sorry, couldn't resist)
Also, thanks for the preview of the Hud lua, looks like there is a whole lot we'll be able to do with that. I guess cur_ammo automatically knows which weapon is selected?
Basically what I would like to know, can we IF against the current weapon?

I'll get the off-topic stuff out of the way first: It's not that ZDoomers are fanatically anti-EDGE, they're fanatically anti-NotZDoom! Most other non-zdoom derived ports also come under flak. And the flipside is that most of these non-zdoom port users get annoyed with ZDoom users because of it. So really, it's not EDGE vs. ZDoom, it's more like Everybody vs. ZDoom :D

Now, On topic: Slopes!
I believe 90% of slope usage would be for "prettying" up a map, so it doesn't matter if they're fake or not, I think. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks. I just hope you haven't bitten off more than you can chew Andrew, or us EDGE "fanatics" are gonna never let you hear the end of it!

LUA Huds! Nice, looks a bit daunting at first but the more you look at the code excerpt below, the more understandable it gets. :D This is gonna be really handy.

Last thing, any joy with tracking down the color-mapped sector problem? It's really starting to annoy me lately. Why the hell don't you fix it already!
I mean, who do you think you are anyway, Mr Apted? I suppose you're one of these 21st century devs who thinks they're entitled to a normal life, instead of doing AT LEAST 12 hours of coding on EDGE a day!
Well I won't have it! I know all about you programmers (I saw one on TV once, and once I was in a room where they told me there were TWO programmers so I'm something of an expert). Pretending that you're giving us a great source port FOR FREE! LISTENING to our suggestions and even TRYING TO IMPLEMENT THEM! Giving up your own free time in a selfless altruistic way! I know your game and I'm going to let EVERYONE KNOW what you're up to.

Listen up folks, here's the truth about EDGE:
Everytime you boot up EDGE your DNA is scanned from your sweaty fingers, and then sent via the interweb to Andrew Apted. This DNA sequence is then used to create an ARMY OF CLONES to serve Mr Apted and to fight for him when he declares himself EMPEROR of the WORLD!
Just remember you heard it from me first! You folks should do like me... and PLAY EDGE WEARING LATEX GLOVES! (which also has the added benefit of making your sweaty fingers not slip off the keys/mouse).
