it would be nice to have a railing linedef, that you pre-set the height to whatever you want, example

[5000]
RAILINGHEIGHT=56;

this would block anything under 56, but you could jump over it, without being an extra sector for this

i have another idea similar to this, it would be the opposite of a 3d floor, you the the 3d railing linedef to a certain sector, and it transfer the heights for the sector outside the map to be transfered to the linedef

it would be helpful like here

in this image ive got some invisible 3d floors that block the player, but it adds some extra sectors in the map that i dont want to add,

Yeah, thats always been a little fidley. The other way around this is to spawn an invisible thing 56 high that blocks the player.
It would be nice if you could set a lines height, but something tells me this may be more difficult or cause more problems then its worth to implement.

A linedef height feature would be shit hot, you could (say in your picture) jump the railing to avoid a swarm of zombies etc.

I think the bigger issue would be that if the railing is solid, then you wouldnt be able to cross the line underneath it. I have the problem alot with sliding doors.
Guess you could create a simple RTS though to fix that.
