EDS - EDGE Development Suitte [DLoad on Pg.1]

Postby Karnizero » Tue 15 Sep 2009 4:06 pm

EDS is a modern, advanced and easy to use tool for all EDGE Modders. It supports editting any RTS, DDF, LDF, LUA and COAL files, allowing you to programm your MODs and TCs in a easy environment, with some useful tools, making your moding life easy and fast.

I developed it under Visual Basic 6.0, so it's deisgned only for Windows. Maybe you can run it with Wine or something, under a *nix system.

I will not release the Source Code until the version 1.0 Stable is released, because I want to release a quite depurated code, out of bugs and with all main features I want to implement just finished (unless someone ask for it).

Features in last version:

- Allows to edit any EDGE Script File: RTS, DDF, LDF, LUA and COAL
- Syntax Highlight: currently, the same as C or C++. Will be improving that.
- DDF and RTS Documentation Libraries
- Common text operations (copy, cut, paste, delete,...) and advanced operations (bookmarks, search word/phrase, go to line, etc...)
- Snippets, allowing you to insert premade code, saving a lot of time.

Planned Features:

- Improved syntax higlight
- Keywords autocompletion
- Insert, extract and create Wad tools, letting you to save or load directly from a PWAD.
- A lot more Snippets
- COAL Documentation Library, similar as the RTS Library.
- Snippets editor, to create from EDS your own snippets.
- Program configuration, saving your own program preferences.
- A new self DDF Documentation and the COAL Docs.
- Run EDGE with such files, when you import them into a PWAD.
- Release the source code. This will occurr when version 1.0 Stable comes out.
- List of last edited files, in the File menu.
- Automatized Wizards: asking you some simple questions, they can create custom scripts, saving even more time.

Another image, editing more COAL:

The DDF and RTS Documentation Libraries. The DDF has been borrowed from the EMUS DDF Docs. In future versions, EDS will have it's own DDF Documentation System:

Another nice feature: the Snippets. Like in EMUS, you can add premade code, saving time:

Comments:

I would appreciate any comment about bugs or issues you found on the program. ;-)

Enjoy!

I'll give this a try tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Of course EMUS is much better than this! (Es broma hombre!)

I wish I was more experienced with the language of machines... I envy and respect programmers. 8)

There was once a time I messed around with Visual basic, and C++.... It's just not for me....
