Old West Project

Postby Dartmerc » Mon 14 Sep 2009 12:05 pm

So, I may not have a real name yet, but I do have some *very* early shots.
Now, usually I would not post anything this primitive (really, I've only been actively working on this for about a week), but I have a friend I need to share these with, and I guess I might as well put them here for everyone's viewing pleasure.

I've been trying to learn how to draw textures, and this is my first attempt. Hopefully I will get better ;)

What you're looking at is the very beginning of a wild west type town. I haven't done any work on interiors or doors/windows, there is a fuckbunch of detail missing and I haven't even thought about lighting yet.. but you should be able to see the look I'm aiming for.

Liking the architecture. Good work so far. Will you also be adding new weapons to this western themed map?

I don't want to go giving too much away, or hyping anything before it's set in stone, but to answer your question, yes. The plan is for new weapons.

Maybe you could point me to a good tutorial on how exactly 3d floors work? lol I'm still pretty new to mapping....

Does the monster AI have any issues navigating 3d floors?

In the Tutorials section of my site you have a simple example of a 3D floor (with Demo wad).
