Go for it!

I'd rather have to learn everything from scratch than have to keep hitting the brick wall which the current limited RTS represents.

If it's a bit of an uphill struggle at first, but is powerful enough to be able to do whatever we want, then I'm all for it, even if it looks like C++ :D

Just don't make it look like COBOL!

"Yar!" said the cow, who had been watching from afar...

Followed by "Allow that proverbial shit..."

This actually sounds pretty good even though I'm not a big fan of the semicolons and all, I script seems a bit messy, but I think it'll be great when it's finished. Coal seems alot like a real programming language while DDF and such were more INI style script language.

Sort like what Liberation said, but I'm thinking of seeing through the eyes of any THING, not just a camera.

Would it be possible to render the world from the POV of an arbitrary thing(obviously a THING which has some kind of TID assigned to it)? Man, that would open up some sweet possibilities for Cutscenes and all kinds of cool effects!

Actually, a camera would also work since that is just another THING which could be moved via scripting.

Seeing the world through the eyes of a THING would f||king rule...that would seriously do so much in the way of cutscenes, I'm already imagining the stuff we could all pull off with it. A camera would be pretty awesome too.

It'd be really neat if you could adjust the player bob to some pretty crazy values, would make for interesting scenes.
