lobo has a good launcher for edge, although I can't find a link to it. There are a couple of new launchers in the works. You can always drag and drop a single WAD file into the exe. to get it running.

i know it's a little gloomy of late, but don't write off edge quite yet. Corbin's made a lot of changes with the hyper3dge fork, reclaiming a quite a few lost features from the defunct 1.32 and older edge builds. I've contacted one of the folks on Agar's Doomed again project. He says the edge exclus...

node builder

This is not a suggestion per se, rather I'm just wondering out loud what edge would lose if it took on ZDBSP as its node builder. Obviously the port would gain support for polyobjects. What would be lost? line def control? rts scripting? So it would involve 4 coders and 2 years so it won't happen, I...

I think Ceejay's most recent efforts have given Zdoom fans reason to pause and tremble. After doing some searching around I found a duke tc for zdoom. While the maps were impressive, the AI was laughable. Zdoomer's seeing baddies switch from walking to flying states and the slimer sticking to player...

I've always assumed zdoom used true software rendering. Not sure if there's a way to easily match the frame rates of software. I've had quite a bit of luck by changing the priority of edge to high. True, cpu doesn't have much to do with opengl rendering; it seems to move a little faster all the same...

I don't know much about vavoom except from screenies. Said screens seem to show a renderer that smooths, blends, and dithers everything into a blurry nothingness. Still shots my not do justice to a moving environment I'll admit. Do you really want to throw away all your rts scripts? You'll be starti...

I'm starting to think Corbin maybe on to something by targeting niche gaming communities. They are far more eager to see new material for the systems that they love and refuse to part with. They also tend to be more open minded about what port is utilized as they are less likely to have been using t...

Hey Agar! I just played through your alpha demo of Doomed Again . It's absolutely fantastic! I also would like to add that my system specs are way under your recommended requirements and the frame rate is fine. I have less than a gig on the cpu and under half a gig on ram. The graphics card is a pla...

A LOD system for edge?

Seeing Agar's clever use of hi-res and low-res sprites got me wondering if a LOD system would be of benefit to mods using noncommercial artwork for their actors/entities. First lets make sure I've got my terminology right. By LOD, I mean a bit of engine code that could dynamically switch between a 1...

That's gotta be the strangest way yet of entering the "Make a new HUD for Hypertension" contest that I've ever seen.

You win a sega genesis if your hud makes it into the game.

At the risk of posting that which everyone already knows, the Whispers of Satan wad works incredibly well with Edge 1.31. The gl nodes take a good long wile to build but once it loads, perfection! This wad was designed with Zdoom in mind although it is Boom compatible. 1.32-test3 also works okay alt...

Just wanted to add that qdoom loads up fine in 1.32c test. There is an ambient sound issue but that's certainly another directory tree problem on my end. Here's what the error log says. TIMID: checking directory 'freepats' TIMID: checking directory 'timidity' TIMID: checking directory '8mbgmpat' TIM...

[FIXED] 1.32a error loading qdoom

Andrew, I hope I'm not spamming up your bug reporting section with bad directory setup questions. I know you'd rather not waste time fielding those. Anyway here's what was reported after I dropped the qdoom wad into the edge.exe Projectile without initial state (SPAWN or IDLE) Error occured near lin...

Tragos Game booster program? Those usually just slow down systems.... If you know how to configure an OS correctly, and use batch files you wont have a use for such programs... Not trying to imply anything, just my 2 cents. What is your OS btw? You might want to point me to some set up guides for XP...
