Is it possible to change the SPRITE_SCALE with a state action? Say to create a shrink ray, or if you needed an explosion effect sprite to grow?

I can predict my comment isn't going to be helpful.. but, just store the players current health in a variable, then check it against the players health at the start of each frame - if the difference is more than x, draw your graphic.

And back on the splash screen.. I love it.
But it would be cool to be able to set the colours, I mean, it's only something small, but if you had a certain colour theme for your project, It'd be cool to have the edge startup match it.

Oh, and for what it's worth - I say go with an updated version, rather than trying to stick to the old game as tight as possible. Flashlight = easy.

Doom's pallet also has a love for blue, but I just use pngs and images.ddf, so I don't even have to worry about the pallet.

Andrew, what is the maximum size I could use for a thing sprite, before I'd begin feeling performance loss? And how would this effect the engine? Would it slow down when trying to draw too many large sprites simultaneously? Or just slowdown constantly? I'm looking to do some high res stuff, and just...
