Woohoo! Finally compiled the exe, but it topped out at 2.8MB, a little bigger than it should be I'm guessing.

Everything runs fine, but I'm noticing a small sound lag. Weird.

Changed the flag but it's still not working. Currently the only method I have to getting this to work is to have Notepad++ find/replace according to what output mingw32 gives me upon bombing. For instance, if MinGw32 stops compiling because it can't find the path , I have to edit all the files using...

The error means that make doesn't know where the actual compiler is. Either you haven't got it installed, or as you said your env. is miscoo figured. Try and find/follow a basic howto on gettin mingw setup in windows, and try to make/compile something simple first. I'm sure you'll find something, o...

Hey andy, I have a question. I have a feeling this is a really simple answer, like I'm not setting the environment, but I'm trying to get EDGE svn to make in mingw32 (using Windows). I copied all the libs it needs in lib_win32/ and have now attempted to compile them. Well, I've failed on everything ...

No, that would actually be perfect if it filled the entire map like that, or at least sectors which would be affected by the fog. Doable?

Ambient/Active Sounds?

Here's a bug that's been around for awhile. Let's say I have a non-interactive object (something with just IDLE states). I have AMBIENT and ACTIVE sound - but nothing plays, no matter what I do. Even if I have a monster that's just there for atmosphere, no sound will play. It seems that you actually...

So I'll make the formal request... We were wondering if you could implement Volumetric/Static Fog in EDGE. This would come in handy to give our mods a nice, eerie atmosphere that the other OpenGL ports have. I have tried faking this effect and nothing works. Sometimes no matter how much detail you p...

I ask for this somewhere some time ago: an RTS command like "WAIT_IMAGE <image>" action so the game "pauses" until the player presses a key or mouse button, and keeps showing an image while game is halted. Usefull for journal pages, for briefings etc... Absolutely, that'd rock.

HUB engine crashes

Basically, we start off on a level (E1M3), which is our main HUB. There's a few ways to branch off (either in Catacombs or a Tower). So let's say we leave for the Tower - transitions nicely and we fight our way through it. Turns out we don't have what we need to progress, so we go back to the HUB (E...

Re: On the way to RC#2

OPL emulation is music which sounds like the original DOOM.EXE on a DOS machine with an Adlib or SoundBlaster card. In less words: simulating the Doom Computer Speaker sounds??? +1 frag for u man. Not the speaker sounds. OPL is how the SB and Adlib cards used to playback music before everyo...

Z, the reason we've been having issues with ambient sound is either 1) We use them in RTS, which cuts them off so the timing has to be perfect, also works in a "radius" of an area (or rectangle). 2) THINGS are easier to use for this method because the sounds will diminish correctly versus ...

Good ones Karni. I'm aware that most of that stuff can be done in RTS, but our RTS file is absolutely outrageously large, and going back to add some stuff in that can otherwise be adapted as easy fixes is daunting. Please Andrew, these things would put your last release on a firm pair of legs and he...

[last-minute] small feature requests before last release

I was going to create separate topics but figured I could maybe compact them together in this one. 1) was wondering if you could give us a choice between texturing the console/background like in 1.31. I know this was hardcoded recently to transparent. 2) Custom sound that plays when you try to "...

Everything looks and plays great! Andy, I have noticed one bug that has been bothersome for quite sometime, though it might be an oversight - EDGE has this wonky system where it will only let us use a certain amount of modeled (md2) weapons. It seems that the amount of sprite weapons is unaffected, ...
