This suggestion (and most of your other ones) are all quite reasonable suggestions. But you need to know that I'm more-or-less retiring as the programmer for EDGE, and I probably won't be doing much work on it in the future, except maybe fixing any bugs which pop up. To put it another way: I won't b...

I've managed to build latest svn(which should now be 1.34rc1, am I correct??!) on linux (64bit) here. Runs fine, joystick (MS-sidewinder) works ok too. 8) Good to hear. @Liberation: styles.ddf was meant to be removed, and still might be one day. It is mainly useful to set fonts, text colors and bac...

Re: Slope Texture...

Is there a way to have a slope texture not "stretch" itself? At first glance it may look okay, but I'm losing some detail.... :( The only thing you could do is use the scaling commands in IMAGES.DDF, in particular ASPECT. You probably need two versions, one for N/S walls and one for E/W w...

Yes it is technically possible.

But I don't know how to do reverb effects, that would require some research.

Also the 1.34 Release Candidate is almost ready, that means a feature freeze.

Now that my nerd rage over GCC breaking things (yet again) has dissipated :), I have fixed those strchr() problems in the 1.34 codebase.

1. Do we still have DDF inheritance? 2. Are we still going to be able to handle multiple different types of DDF in each file/Lump? No and no, unfortunately that work got abandoned with the 1.34 sidebranch. Since they required big changes all throughout the code, it is not possible to just bolt it o...

A minor bug but the Timidity/System won't play MIDI files that have been imported and/or converted to MUS format. For instance, there are a few MIDI's we have created for Hypertension that used to work before The System device cannot play MIDI format. But MUS format should work on both Timidity/Sys...

HUBS

I have implemented Hubs for EDGE 1.34 8) You can find a test package, Edge-1.34d-Hubby, on the SourceForge download area: http://sourceforge.net/projects/edge/files/ It includes a demo consisting of 6 maps which you can cross back and forth between, plus a text file describing how it works. KNOWN PR...

For physics MD2 models are the same as things: a cylinder with a certain radius and height. [FWIW the cylinder is not actually round, I'm simplifying a bit] So a MD2-modelled slope wouldn't work like you might expect, it would act like a solid cube. I was planning a mode which allowed MD2 models to ...

What you tried to compile is not 1.34 but "1.32SVN". 1.32SVN does not depend on glBSP or Lua. The 1.34 code is in a separate folder trunk/n134 instead of trunk/edge 1.34 has the same dependencies as 1.31 including glBSP 2.24 and a c++ compiled Lua. (See some recent posts in General Discuss...

Re: 'Warped' MUS playback :S

Anyway, to describe the problem, MUS format music sounds somewhat... off. As in, some of the instruments are in the wrong key from the get-go and others start off fine, then suddenly drop a couple of notes down in pitch (usually within the first 5 seconds). YEEEEEEESSS!! I have finally worked out w...

1.34a TEST PACKAGE

The EDGE 1.34a-TEST package has been uploaded to SourceForge, you can find it in the "Test Builds" section. Below are the changes compared to a stock EDGE 1.31. None of the "big ticket" items that were planned or actually coded for 1.32 are in here (DDF inheritance, COAL, MD3 mod...

Release number madness

The next release will be version 1.34  Turns out that I tried to do too much in 1.32 and really can't get motivated to finish it  Hence I'm working on 1.34 which is 1.31 + most of the bug fixes + some of the features. Dartmerc, you may be happy to know that the RTS Action buttons are in ...

Another one of my pipe dreams :D Where DoomBuilder (etc) focuses on ZDoom stuff, this map editor would have built-in support for EDGE stuff, like positioning RTS scripts and getting thing definitions directly from your DDF files. Kinda stalled right now. There is some code and it can view a map, but...

No additional control over the automap is planned, but (assuming COAL reaches future completion) you could draw the automap without things and use COAL to draw the things on top. Question 1: can you publish a list of COAL native functions/procedures with its own arguments(if have)? Something like &q...
